Morpurgo, Salomone
(1860-1942)
   Italian philol-ogist and librarian. From 1884 to 1942 he was director of the Biblioteca Riccardiana in Rome. He also served as head of the Biblioteca Marciana in Venice, which he transferred to the Palazzo della Zecca, and of the National Library in Florence (1905-23). His studies included an investigation of the medieval Italian version of the legend of the Wandering Jew.
